"Traveling the West" art show is the nation's premier art events of 2015.  This show will offer original work by more than 175 of America's top artists. This themed event is one of the largest Western Art Show & Sales to ever be held and will tell the story in art of how a nation traveled west. Wagons, Horses, Trains, Planes, & Automobiles are highlighted in hundreds of unique ways throughout the history of the American West.  This national show and sales event is the first time that the top Western Artists, Aviation Artists, Wildlife Artists, Still Life Artists, Plein Air Artists, and Landscapes Artists are together presenting the same theme.   With the nations best painters and sculpture artists attending, this unique event will set a new standard in Western Art.  "Traveling the West" touches on all areas of western life.  From the earliest days of the Mountain Men, to the great push west after the Civil War.  All moments in western history are included; Wagon trains, Cattle drives, ranch life, wildlife, hunting, fishing, the great railroads, and the first pilots that brought the airplane to the west are remembered.  Modern day life is also included;  rodeo's, tourism, and all types of cars, trucks and aircraft that are found in the west.  The horse will forever be the backbone of the American West, and some of the best horse artwork available will highlight the show theme.

Art Collector Magazine has posted all the works from the inaugural "Art of the Heartland" exhibition (Southwest Artists, Inc.) I attended the opening last week and have to say that the collection of art is incredible! Here is a link to the site:

I'm happy to announce that my painting "Milk River Fancy Shawl" has been accepted into the Southwest Artists, Inc. "Art of Heartland" juried competition and exhibition to be held at the Mena Art Gallery, Mena, AR.

Update to "The Last Leg" - The main subject has been blocked in - still a lot of work to do. Now working on the detail of the Ryan M-1 and will push the background more into the distance. The whole painting will receive a "warm up" before it is finished.

I started a second painting for the "Traveling the West" Show and Sale - This work is titled "The Last Leg" Oil on canvas 15" x 30" ... Just about done with the background - work starts on the main subject tonight! I'll try to post more updates as I go.
